Kayaking on Brassua Lake - in Rockwood ME

Rating: Two Stars - Beautiful big lake, from a kayak I explored only one corner of it. Waters can be choppy especially farther from the shorelines. Paddling northwards along the western coast on my left, every jutting peninsula gives another one after you get to it. Fun!

Put in at boat ramp off Jackman Road
/ Route 15 in Rockwood ME.
Paddle along western coast
  and return.
Estimated round trip
  distance = 3+ miles
The part of Brassua Lake shown in this map
is about 1/10th of the whole lake.

Brassua Lake boat ramp.

Just launched. Looking eastward to the Route 15 road.

I will hug the western shore on my left northwards.

The first of many coves on Brassua Lake shore.

This peninsula of land is as much as I can see.
Will see more as soon as I round this neck of land.

Mount Kineo on the background right side.

A colony of dead tree stumps. :)

At this point, after about 45 minutes of paddling, the waters are getting very choppy so I turned around to head back to where I started.

Choppy waters got this picture out-of-focus.

I am now paddling back and the shoreline is on my right.

I can now see the Brassua Lake launch.

Brassua Lake fronm Route 15. Launch is on left.
