Kayaking on Ware River - in Rutland MA Rating: One-and-a-Half Stars - The covered bridge was a pleasant surprise to me on this route and I added a half-star for that. We paddled northwards upstream until we hit a beaver dam. Paddle time is 1 hour 8 minutes.   Put in at River Road   in Rutland MA. Paddle downstream to covered   bridge and turn around. Paddle upriver on Ware River   to beaver dam and return. Trip date is July 2017. Today, the Boston Kayaker's paddling buddy is the wife on a tandem kayak. Just launched on Ware River. Veering right downstream to the covered bridge. Just a few minutes into our paddle and we can see the covered bridge. We will approach the bridge on the left and take pictures of the rushing waters that we can hear. Just turned around and now paddling upstream on Ware River. Water liliies on Ware River. There is our pickup. On left is the spot we launched from. Continuing upstream past the launch spot. A beaver lodge on the banks of Ware River. The beginnings of a beaver dam . . . The river is getting narrower and filled with vegetation. Another beaver dam in the making. Past that narrow section, the river path is clear again. We have reached this beaver dam. Our point of return. Just turned around from the beaver dam and now paddling downstream. Landed. Paddle time is 1 hour 8 minutes.
