Kayaking on Squannacook River - in Groton MA

Rating: One Star - One can not go very far on the Squannacook River, maybe an hour or less of paddling before you hit all those downed trees that becomes more and more dificult to go over or under or around. It was fun to get past the first half-a-dozen tree obstacles though until you hit the impassable.

At West Groton Water Supply District Office on Townsend Road in Groton MA.

Trip date is July 2012.

At the put in to Squannacook River behing the water office.

Just launched.

This pond-like reservoir has aquatic vegation . . .

Looking south is this big smokestack and some industrial buildings.

I am now paddling north trying to find the river.

Jump ropes.

This is the point I have to turn back as I am now on top of a tree just a few inches under water.

Now paddling downriver back to where I started.

It was a 2-hour round trip.
