Wikipedia: Powwow River All photos in this website are original and copyrighted. At the Tuxbury Pond launch park area in Newton Road in Amesbury MA. Trip date is July 2012. About 120 feet of portage required from parking lot to put in. Just launched on Tuxbury Pond. The Tuxbury Pond Dam is directly to the left of launch. Tuxbury Pond is about 80% covered with water lilies. I have to stay in the Powwow River main channel to have a clear paddle away from the vegetation. One house on my left. A fisherman on a motorized raft. River is on this section close to Hilldale Avenue. An informal put in at Hilldale Avenue east of the bridge. Hilldale Avenue bridge. Under the Hilldale Avenue bridge. The alternate put in at the west side of the Hilldale Avenue bridge. This is my point of turn around as the water ahead look still and has slick coating. I am now paddling downstream (hardly any flow though) to get back to where I started. Pleased to see a couple of kayakers. Beached at the Hilldale Avenue bridge access and walked my feet around. Back to Powwow River, now crossing this Hilldale Avenue bridge on my way back. A group of boaters. Paddled past the group. Looking behind. The eastern shore is a RV campsite. Very nice house overlooking Tuxbury Pond and Powwow River. Tuxbury Pond dam. The Boston Kayaker has landed. |
