Kayaking on New Bedford Reservoir - in Acushnet MA Rating: One Star - This pond is really viable for kayaking only from mid-May to June. After June, this pond is filled with aquatic vegetation. There is a swan rookery on the east side in middle section of the pond.   Put in at Lake Street   in Acushnet MA. Paddle around reservoir   and return. Trip date is May 2013. Just launched on the Newbedford Reservoir. A pair of fishermen. Facing east. Now heading north. I can see a bunch of swans in that rookery area. Turning east. The houses on Carol Street. A duck in flight over New Bedford Reservoir. Turning towards the northwestern arm of the reservoir. I see at least seven turtles in this picture. Can you see them? This is as north as I want to go . . . too much vegetation already. Just turned around and now heading back. I am now on the main body of the reservoir where there is not much water lillies. The Boston Kayaker has landed. From the parking lot looking south across the road.
