The Boston Kayaker just launched into Forge Pond in Westford MA. Looking to my right (west). I will paddle to the left to Beaver Brook inlet. Ahead of me is the small cove leading to Beaver Brook inlet. From the east end, looking to my right (west) at the rest of Forge Pond. Now entering the Beaver Brook inlet. Approaching Beaverbrook Road. The resident swans of Forge Pond. Both culverts are blocked with branches and not runnable. Landed on Beaverbrook Road. Just portaged to the other side (east) of Beaverbrook Road. Launching into Beaver Brook. This brook is filled with aquatic vegetation and I can only paddle by skimming the few inches of water. A beaver lodge on Beaver Brook. Another beaver lodge on Beaver Brook. My pursuit of Beaver Brook ends at this foot brige and beaver dam. Just turned around and now paddling back. I can now see Beaverbrook Road. Portaged back to Forge Pond. Back at the waters of Forge Pond. Entering the main body of Forge Pond coming from the Beaver Brook inlet cove. I will follow the coast to my left and circle Forge Pond clockwise. That sandy spot on the north shore is the public beach on Forge Pond. In front of me is the southwest end cove of Forge Pond. From here I decided to veer left and to paddle straight to the north shore. Aiming for the beach . . . Now on the north shore of Forge Pond and paddling eastwards. The outlet cove where the Forge Pond dam is. Landed back at Freedom Park. Total paddle time is 1 hour and 40 minutes. |
