VermontPaddling.com: Half a Dozen Great Places to Paddle
Excerpts from VermontPaddling article above:
The Clyde River in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom has a nice three-hour paddle
from the Center School Road put-in downriver to the take-out at Clyde River Recreation
(clyderiverrecreation.com) in West Charlestown. Mack says it's great for families.
The Clyde flows through the region's heart, by farms, cedar and birches.
Just as paddlers must keep an eye out for whitecaps on large bodies of water,
given the odd weather of late, it's also best to check with a local outfitter
before going on a quiet water river as to water level conditions.
"(There is) nice meandering water with no rapids and each turn might reveal
an otter, heron, kingfisher or more," Mack said. "Also great access along the
Clyde thanks to our partnership with Clyde River Recreation and Northwoods Stewardship Center."
