Kayaking on Slatersville Reservoir and Branch River - in North Smithfield RI

Rating: Two Stars - Very pleasant paddle I had. The reservoir has a nice shape to it that you do not get to see the whole from any point and must paddle along and around to see it. A short trip into Branch River gave this route variety.

Just launched in Slatersville Reservoir.

Looking back at the launch, there is this family that has white-water kayaks.

Looking north.

I will be paddling south first.

Nice reservoir. Shores are tree-lined.

Fast boat.

The eastern coast has some developments.

Another bridge-now-gone abutments.

Now entering the Branch River.

A turtle on Branch River.

I can see Douglas Street Bridge.

Just before the Douglas Pike bridge is an impassable rock garden.

I have reached my point of return and will now turn around.

I am now paddling back to Slatersville Reservoir.

Back to the reservoir.

Here comes the wake!

Unlike other kayakers, I do not get annoyed with these wakes.

The white-water family. The father teaching the kids eskimo roll.

Now paddling towards the north end of the reservoir.

Those two concrete abutments marks the dam. I can hear it!

Sign says: DANGER KEEP OUT NO TRESPASSING

Now paddling south towards the boat ramp.

On the water for 1 hour 56 minutes.
