Kayaking on Lake Rohunta - in Orange MA

Rating: One Star - I was not aware of the formal access at Eagleville Road so on trip, I launched from Route 202 next to the dam. The narrow Lake Rohunta gives you a feeling of kayaking on a river until you get to the south end filled with waterlillies. Paddle time is 1 hour 10 minutes.

On Lake Rohunta on Route 202 in Orange MA.
Trip date is July 2017.
Note that there is a better access in Eagleville Road as shown in my map.

The Boston Kayaker just launched on Lake Rohunta in Orange MA.

Paddling south . . .

Just a few minutes of paddling will get you to see the Route 202 bridge over Lake Rohunta.

A water-front house on my right.

Continuing south . . .

To my right (west) is a see of water lillies.

There is still a narrow channel of clear water to paddle on.

At this point, I do not see anymore clear channel that I can paddle and instead faced with vegetation all around.

This is my point of return.

Just turned around and now paddling northwards.

Can you see the turtles?

Landed for a short break.

Back on the water, continuing northwards.

This northern section is so much clear of waterlillies.

I checked out earlier that beach at the center of the picture.
Gates locked and for private club members only.

Landed. Paddle time is 1 hour 10 minutes.

Decided to have a peek at the Lake Rohunta Dam.
