Kayaking on Lake Champlain's Hawkins Bay - in Ferrisburgh VT

Rating: Two-and-a-Half Stars - From the South Slang launch on Hawkins Road, we paddled northwards to Lake Champlain's Hawkins Bay. It was the last weekend of September and the leaves are just about to burst into fall colors. We paddled close-up to the granite cliffs near the Kingslang Bay State Park.

The Boston Kayaker just launched on South Slang on a tandem kayak with the wife.

This area is where the South Slang joins the main stem (Little Otter Creek).

Coming out of the South Slang, we are veering left northwards to Hawkins Bay.
A right turn will take us to East Slang.

I told my wife to remember this bird and the mound as it marks the point where we have to turn right to South Slang on our way back.

Here's one hoping the bird is still there to mark the spot when we come back.

Island on the mouth of Hawkins Bay.

Looking to our right, the rest of Hawkins Bay.

We decided this is as far west as we want to paddle.

Just turned around and now facing eastwards.

On the horizon is the eastern shore of Hawkins Bay.

Now about to enter the South Slang creek.

To the right is the South Slang.
