Kayaking on Contoocook River - from Henniker NH to Hopkinton NH


Rating: Two-and-a-Half Stars - Very green stretch of river and mostly undeveloped. When we paddled in mid-July, there were 2 rocky spots I have to get out and push and a few more that are scratchy. Paddling time is 2 hours and 1 minute.

Take out off Route 127

At the southeast side of Ramsdell Road bridge in Henniker NH.
Trip date is July 2020.


Looking downstream from the Ramsdell Bridge.
The 200-feet or so of river from the bridge is a rock garden.
The launch is at right at the end of the parking area.


Today's kayak buddies, the Boston Kayaker's wife and puppies Saco and Sebec.








Just launched on Contoocook River from the Rumsdell Bridge put in.


We will paddle a one-way trip to Hopkinton past the Route 9 bridge.

We can now see the Route 9 bridge.














Past the Route 9 bridge, the old bridge abutments marks the take-out.


Landed. Paddle time is 2 hours and 1 minute.


This take-out is overgrown with brush.

The takeout can be reached from Route 127 in Hopkinton NH, a dirt road with a closed gate.
