Kayaking on Chipuxet River and Wordens Pond - from Kingston RI to Tuckertown RI

Rating: One Star - Route is "swampy" and no beaches to land on. We turned around on hitting a beaver dam. Very "swampy" scenic though in its own unique way.

Put in at Taylor's Landing on
  Route 138 in Kingston RI.
Take out at Wordens Pond Road
  boat ramp in Tuckertown RI.
Estimated distance

Note: In August 2011, this one-way route is not doable due to the
two-foot beaver dam that we found insurmountable! :(

Pictures and trip taken in August 2011.

Taylor's Landing on Route 138 in Kingston RI.

Getting ready to launch.

Off we go.

Obstacle!

Cruising . . .

A family in a canoe. They have 2 small children in the middle of the canoe not seen in this picture.

We were happy paddling along until we hit this beaver dam about half into our planned route. :(

The dam created a two-fee drop. We can hear the water rushing thru this and leaking on the sides.

This beaver dam is not to be taken lightly . . .

We explored the sides of the river to see if there is an easy way around.

We decided to "advance in a different direction"!

Back to Taylor's Landing!

At our planned destination at Wordens Pond earlier in the day.
We left one car here in anticipation of doing a one-way trip from Taylor's Landing.
