Kayaking on Buffumville Lake - in Charlton MA

Rating: One Star - I paddled as I mapped in June 2012. Very naturist as all the shores are pristine and undeveloped. The beach was busy and lively on this warm June day. The lake are basically two elongated circles with no big coves to explore. It was a good hour-and-a-half kayak trip.

At Buffumville Lake in Charlton MA in June 202.

Big parking lot for 20+ cars.

This launch has some minimal amenities as toilets.

At Buffumville Lake boat ramp.

Just launched.

I always look back and try to remember where I will be heading back.

I paddled to my right from launch. I can see the tunnel to the north section of the lake.

The tunnel under Oxford Road to the northern section of Buffumville Lake.

Right out of the tunnel, I can see the parking lot for the lake recreation area.

The beach is busy and lively.

Continuing north . . .

I will be coasting on the east shore and circumnavigate.

Ok I have reached the north end of Buffumvill Lake

Buffumville Lake looking southwards from the northend.

I am paddling to the other side and will be returning by coasting on the west shore.

Now coasting on the west shore going south.

From the west side, I can see the swimming area (that clearing in the picture).

Tunnel under Oxford Road going to the southern section of Buffumvile Lake.

Now on the southern section of Buffumville Lake.

Coasting southwards on the east shore.

Facing briefly on my left (east side), the walls of the dam.

Continuing southwards . . .

It is raining and visible on the raindrops on the lake.

I am not paddling north will return to my put in. Will coast on the east shore.

A beaver lodge on the right (that pile of branches).

The gates of the Buffumville Lake Dam.

The boat ramp is my landing spot.

That was a good trip. Hour and a half of paddling.
