All photos in this website are original and copyrighted. At Brigham Pond on Old Princeton Road in Hubbardston MA. Trip date is October 2017. Today's kayak buddy is the Boston Kayaker's wife. The Boston Kayaker and wife just launched into Brigham Pond in Hubbardston MA. Veering to the cove on the right. Checking to see if can go under the Evergreen Road bridge. On our left, a guy fishing from his boat. Aquatic plants on Brigham pond. At closer inspection, the stream is beaver-dammed on the other side of the bridge. Turned away from the Evergreen Road bridge. Coming in from the cove . . . Turned right out of the cove and now facing northwards. It is the first day of October. The leaves are just starting to show some autumn colors. A cute tiny island on Brigham Pond. The west shore on our left. Continuing northwards. At left is an island and behind that is the Brigham Street bridge. A beaver dam blocks our path to the Brigham Street bridge. Impressive beaver dam that raised the water behind it by 10+ inches. Just turned around from the beaver dam. Now paddling southwards. Approaching the cluster of islands. A small island on Brigham Pond. Approaching the launch area. The bridge and the top of the Brigham Pond dam. Paddling to our left to the takeout where we came from. Landed. Paddle time is 48 minutes. Brigham Pond Dam seen from the Route 68 bridge. |
