Kayaking on Blackstone River - from Northbridge MA to Uxbridge MA Rating: One-and-a-Half Stars - My expectations from the short mileage on this route were easily exceeded. Green hills in the background. I started from the Oak Street access in Uxbridge. Paddled upriver maybe 3 quarters of the way to Plummer's Landing until the current was to strong. Paddle time is 1 hour 14 minutes.   Put in at Plummer's Landing on   Church Street in Northbridge MA. At half-mile, take river left on fork.   Right leads to impassable canal. Take river right arch under bridge.   River left arches lead to waterfalls!   Take out at Oak Street   in Uxbridge MA. At the access to Blackstone River on Oak Street in Uxbridge MA. The Boston Kayaker just launched on Blackstone River. With me are my dogs Saco and Sebec. From the launch, paddling north upriver. Approaching the Hartford Avenue bridge. Just north of the bridge is this pond-like portion of the Blackstone River. A blue heron on the banks of the Blackstone River. Narrowing into the river it is. The current is getting strong here. At this point, I turned around as I cannot paddle against the current anymore. Just turned around. Now paddling south downriver. Much easier paddling with the slow current. Now approaching the arched bridge and the takeout. Round trip paddle time is 1 hour 14 minutes.
